Costa Rica adopts ISDB-T as the digital terrestrial television standard

On May 25, 2010, local time, the Government of Costa Rica officially announced to have decided to adopt ISDB-T as the terrestrial digital television standard as its national standard.

Costa Rica is the seventh country outside Japan to select ISDB-T, following Brazil, Peru, Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, and Ecuador.

DiBEG has dispatched specialists to Costa Rica to conduct seminars, demonstration and trial transmission for the promotion of ISDB-T.

As a result, on April 29, 2010, the Joint Commission on Digital Television of Costa Rica decided to sign a comprehensive document that recommended the Executive Branch implement ISDB-T as the standard for digital television in the country. On May 25, the official gazette announced an ordinance that declared the official adoption of ISDB-T.
